Presentation:  Off-the Shelf Hardware, Specialized Software In The Broadcast World

The last two decades of broadcast industry change have been characterized as “technical convergence”, because computer networking, communications and other systems have rapidly supplanted the previous broadcast-specific technology approaches.

Today’s media organizations are being driven to provide additional content. That requires a flexible workflow that can provide more media deliverables at higher quality with the same or lower operational costs.

Mr. Halla will describe how these software and hardware trends will evolve over the next decade. He will demonstrate a universal, all software-based solution to replace costly, multi-vendor asset management and master control software/hardware designs of the past. There will be working technology and a functional demonstration of these systems.

Ed Caleca, former Sr. Executive VP for Engineering with PBS, will describe the selection and implementation of these new technology platforms at PBS. Ed is a consultant for the PBS project - a full function, disaster recovery resource located in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Presenter:
Mr. Willy Halla is the Founder and President of HA Design Group in Springfield, Virginia - a full service broadcast design, engineering, and integration firm.

Our Mission

This is an open invitation for you to become members of the Media Communications Association International (MCA-I).

Many of you may ask yourself what is the MCA-I? Well my friend it’s a group of digital media professionals who provide the content for and the delivery of media communications to business, entertainment, and other end user around the world; companies that employ or commission their goods and services; suppliers to the industries they serve; educators and students.

Today the MCA-I is a global community with chapters across the United States and affiliates in several countries worldwide. MCA-I helps media professionals find what they need, when and where they need it.

MCA-I is a great organization for young people just starting out in this exciting and growing industry. Students can mingle with working professionals, make valuable contacts and learn first hand about real-world skills necessary for success.

The Philadelphia Chapter is actively searching for new members. We are planning some exciting informational networking meetings starting in April. We welcome all who are interested in all areas of media to attend!
